MOUNT KILIMANJARO - LEMOSHO ROUTE
ABOUT THIS TRIP
This is not a rushed Kilimanjaro climb. Our Lemosho Route expedition is built around proper acclimatisation and steady progression, starting on the quieter western side and moving through rainforest onto the Shira Plateau before pushing higher. The route is paced to give your body time to adapt, using key points like the plateau and Lava Tower to follow the climb high, sleep low approach. As we move through Barranco Valley and into the upper mountain, everything is geared towards keeping the ascent controlled and setting you up properly for summit night.
Summit day is tough but deliberate, climbing under starlight to Stella Point before continuing along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres.
The descent takes you back through changing environments all the way to the lower slopes, giving a full journey of the mountain rather than a quick up and down. Before the climb, we include a short acclimatisation hike to Materuni Waterfall to ease you in.
This is Kilimanjaro done properly, well paced, fully supported, and built for people who want to do it right.

DIFFICULTY RATING
This expedition is graded Level 4 – Demanding and is suited to those with good physical fitness and a resilient mindset. The Lemosho Route is one of the more gradual approaches on Kilimanjaro, with a longer itinerary that allows for better acclimatisation and a more controlled ascent.
You should be comfortable with:
• 5–7 hours of trekking per day
• Sustained elevation gain at altitude (up to 5,895 m)
• Consecutive days on the mountain with limited recovery
• Variable conditions, from rainforest humidity to cold alpine nights
While the pacing is more forgiving than shorter routes, this is still a serious high-altitude expedition. The route moves through varied terrain before joining the southern circuit, including the Barranco Wall, a hands-on but non-technical scramble, before the final overnight push to Uhuru Peak.
The climb is non-technical, but altitude, consistency and endurance are the key challenges. Preparation, discipline and steady pacing remain essential throughout.
